Privacy Policy

This policy is effective as of August 8, 2025.

The Forerunner app (hereinafter referred to as 'the App') establishes and discloses the following privacy policy in accordance with Article 30 of the 「Personal Information Protection Act」 to protect the personal information of data subjects and to handle any complaints related to personal information promptly and smoothly.

1. Purpose of Personal Information Processing

The App never collects or transmits users' health data externally. User data is accessed in read-only mode only with the user's consent and exclusively within the device.

  • Accessible data: Steps count, workout records, and mindfulness data stored in the Apple Health app
  • Purpose of use: Visualization (charts, statistics, etc.), providing training insights
  • Data is processed only within the app and is neither transmitted to nor stored on external servers

However, to improve functionality and ensure app stability, anonymized usage behavior data (e.g., screen views, button taps) may be collected via the Amplitude analytics tool.

  • Collected items: App usage events, device information (model, OS version), time zone, etc. (※ Health data is not included)
  • Purpose of collection: Improving usability and optimizing features
  • Collection method: Anonymized data is sent and stored on Amplitude's servers

Advertisement Services

To provide free services, the App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. The following information may be processed during advertisement delivery:

  • Information collected: Advertising identifiers (IDFA/AAID), IP addresses, device information, app usage information
  • Purpose of collection: Delivering personalized ads, measuring ad performance, preventing fraudulent clicks
  • Processing entities: Google LLC and Google's advertising partners
  • Opting out of personalized ads: Go to iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising > Personalized Ads to change settings

2. Processing and Retention Period of Personal Information

The App does not collect or store any personal information on servers.

  • Health data is processed only temporarily during app usage.
  • If Apple Health access is revoked, Forerunner will no longer have access to the data.

Behavioral data collected via Amplitude is anonymized and deleted once the purpose of collection is fulfilled, in accordance with data destruction procedures.

Advertisement-related data collected through Google AdMob is processed according to Google's data retention policies and is generally retained for up to 26 months.

3. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

The App does not provide any sensitive personal information, including health data, to third parties.

However, limited data may be provided to third parties for the following purposes:

  • Amplitude, Inc.: De-identified data for app usage behavior analysis
  • Google LLC: Advertising identifiers, device information, etc. for advertisement delivery
  • Google's advertising partners: Anonymized data for advertisement optimization

This data is used solely for usability improvements and advertisement delivery and is protected in accordance with each company's privacy policy.

4. Outsourcing of Personal Information Processing

The App may outsource limited data processing to external vendors for the purposes described below:

  • Amplitude, Inc.: Analysis of app usage behavior
    • Data: App usage events, device information, etc. (※ Excludes health data)
    • Purpose: Usability improvement and feature optimization
    • Retention: Until the purpose is fulfilled or the user opts out
  • Google LLC (Google AdMob): Advertisement services
    • Data: Advertising identifiers, IP addresses, device information, app usage information
    • Purpose: Delivering personalized advertisements and measuring ad performance
    • Retention: According to Google's data retention policies (up to 26 months)
    • Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy

5. Rights and Obligations of Data Subjects and Legal Representatives, and Methods of Exercise

As the App does not operate an external server or user account system, there is no need for separate requests for access, correction, deletion, or suspension of personal information. However, users can control data usage through the following means:

  • Revoking access to Apple Health will prevent Forerunner from accessing the associated data.
  • Opting out of personalized ads: Go to iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising > Disable "Personalized Ads"
  • Limiting ad tracking: Go to iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking > Disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"

Although Forerunner does not collect or store personal information of data subjects, we have designated a personal information protection officer as follows to respond responsibly to inquiries and requests related to personal information protection.
